AFGHANISTAN: 12 CIVILIANS, 5 CHILDREN, KILLED BY NATO
Tuesday, 16th February, 2010 (09:33 PM) |
Mon Feb 15 2010
Twelve civilians, among them 5 children, have been killed by two NATO rockets in Nad Ali, the Guardian reported. Ten of those killed were from the same family.
Operation Moshtarak involves the deployment of 15,000 mostly US, British and Afghan troops in Marjah. In spite of many reports indicating that many Marjah's residents fled to near by towns, the Christian Science Monitor reports that most of Marjah's inhabitants, between 50,000 to 100,000 (this is best numbers the media can provide), have 'stayed put'.
